birthday weekend, etc.

Thanks to Deidre for the fabulous birthday post… Can’t wait to see you again someday soon! And take a vacation with you! Maybe you guys don’t know this, but Deidre is the best vacation planner/dreamer upper out there! Seriously, you need ideas… go to her! She should probably start her own company. Working for yourself is what all the cool kids do!

True.

However, after the cookies & milk party on Friday night, I was definitely in the mood to keep things low key for my birthday weekend! By the way, I had some questions about the cookie baking. I made the PB cookies in between piano lessons on Thursday and mixed up the dough for the Pumpkin Gingersnaps on Thursday night. All of the rest was done between 8-noon on Friday morning. Cookie baking is an easy thing to multi-task. Especially if you’ve had many Fridays of practice!

Anyhow. Regarding the big birthday weekend, I totally relaxed & enjoyed myself and hardly thought of you guys at all. So this will be sporadic at best.

Saturday morning Kevin James made me my all-time favorite breakfast —> fried egg on English muffin with lots of hot sauce and crushed red pepper. Made by Kevin. He makes it so much better than me. We were planning to go to the gym, but got distracted by a gigantic church garage sale down the street.

My haul! The embroidery hoops were like 75 cents, and the cork boards were $1!! I know they’ll come in handy sometime. I also bought a lamp that I’m planning to have Kevin paint or spray paint something neon. We’ll see how that turns out!! By the time we ran Pippa and got ready to go out, we were hungry for lunch.

Kevin had the great idea to try out the Illegal Pete’s downtown. We used to love the one in Greenwood Village!

There were a few differences:

Haha. But we still loved it. And the patio is on a quiet little side street! So nice!

Guess what was right down the street?

The downtown Tattered Cover bookstore! Umm… I don’t suggest going to a bookstore as your FIRST stop of a shopping outing. I selected three rather hefty books that we then had to tote around all day. I’ll show you those little treasures another day! The rest of the afternoon was spent browsing the 16th Street Mall. I know it’s ridiculous, but my favorite place to go down there is always TJ Maxx. It’s a really good one!!!

Birthday cake time is Boyd’s chance to shine!

His best trick! I think he likes to show it off even more now in front of Pippa Cordelia!

Pippa and I eating the cake. Mostly me, I promise (this was before boot camp started, FYI!!!!).

Kevin was super sneaky and left me this birthday message! I didn’t find it until almost 10AM today!! I really loved my day at home. I got to run, do the first boot camp workout, hang out with dogs, and I even got some new piano students without even trying. Can I say again how thankful I am about how well that venture is going?

The day went so fast! Jess, a new friend from church, showed up on her bicycle after work to deliver these flowers. How sweet is that? And she definitely picked the right colors!!!

Kevin and I went to Starbucks for a little skinny vanilla latte on the patio to just hang out and have some qt. Afterwards, I Face Timed with my nephews (and fam) so they could sing to me!! Why don’t we do that more often!?!?! We had our normal grill night, and now I have Kevin slaving away on more spreadsheets for my studio. Being married to a financial analyst has its perks!! Back to work in the morning!!

And I’ll be back to tell you about how the Fitmixer boot camp is going (swell).

Do you love your birthday — or is just like another day to you? For sure. The aging thing is no big deal now that I’m married to a 32-year-old. ;)

Any sweet yard sale finds lately? Kevin says “I got a shovel!!” Haha. I want to go to more, but I’m just not dedicated enough!

What’s your favorite flower to receive? Colorful non-rose types! :) Kevin got me sunflowers for our anniversary and has bought me some daisy-type things in the past. “Baby. I’m making you sound good like you get me flowers all the time.”

What flowers do you have planted in your yard? Just because Kevin and I were talking about it on the porch the other day. I really want a snowball bush.
